Why the stock market is better for starters
- Understandable asset. You buy a share in a company you know.
- Long-term growth. The S&P 500 has historically grown by 9-10% annually.
- Dividends. Companies pay dividends.
- Diversification. One ETF share = 500 companies.
- Regulation. Real stocks are held in a depository.
Simple plan for a beginner
- Determine the amount. Start with 100 somoni.
- Buy an ETF for the S&P 500.
- Add 2-3 shares of large companies.
- Contribute regularly. 100-500 somoni per month is more important than a one-time deposit.
- Hold for at least 1 year.
When forex might be appropriate
Forex is a tool for hedging currency risks and for experienced traders with a clear strategy. For a beginner wanting to ‘earn quickly,’ it's a path to losing money.
