Forex or Stock Market: Which Is More Reliable

Two different tools — two different results

"Forex" and "stock market" are often confused, but these are fundamentally different tools. Let's analyze the real difference and why it's important for your money.

What is Forex

Forex (Foreign Exchange) is a currency exchange market. You buy one currency and sell another, earning from the exchange rate difference.

In itself, this is not bad. Banks, corporations, and central banks use Forex for real tasks: paying for imports, hedging currency risk.

The problem starts when Forex is offered to a private individual as a way to earn money.

What is the stock market

The stock market is a place where real securities are traded: company stocks, bonds, ETFs. By buying an Apple stock, you become a co-owner of the company. You earn rights to part of the profit (dividends) and to the growth in the stock's value.

Key Differences

  • What you buy. On Forex — a contract for difference (CFD). On the stock market — a real stock or bond.
  • Who holds the asset. On Forex — the broker (often offshore). On the stock market — the depository.
  • Leverage. On Forex — 1:100, 1:500. On the stock market — usually none.
  • Regulation. Forex brokers are often offshore. The stock market — national regulators.
  • Loss statistics. On Forex, 70-90% of retail traders lose money. Long-term investors in the S&P 500 have historically been in the black.

Why 70-90% lose on Forex

This is not our opinion. These are the data from Forex brokers themselves, which they are required to publish in the EU and the UK.

  • Leverage. Leverage 1:100 means a 1% movement in the exchange rate against you = 100% loss of deposit.
  • Spreads and commissions. A broker earns from every transaction. The more you trade, the more they earn.
  • Short horizon. Forex trading is an attempt to predict currency movements within minutes or hours.

What to do if you are in Tajikistan

In Tajikistan, there is a licensed broker with access to real stocks on the NYSE and NASDAQ. This is not Forex. This is the stock market.

  • You buy real stocks, not CFDs.
  • Stocks are held in a depository (licensed by the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan).
  • No leverage of 1:500.
  • Commission 0.3% on purchase, 0% on sale.
  • Regulation: 4 licenses from the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan.

💡 Try it: you can open an account with a licensed broker in Tajikistan in a few minutes. Deposit from 100 somoni, without visiting an office.
