When a part of each salary goes to the family, saving for yourself seems impossible — but the task is solved not by the “remainder,” but by the system.
Calculate how much truly remains for you
Before setting anything aside, honestly list your income and mandatory expenses: transfers home, rent, food, transportation. What remains is the amount that is truly yours — use this as the basis for savings, not the entire salary.
Separate transfers and savings into different accounts
If the money for home transfers and the money for savings are in the same place, the savings almost always get “consumed” first. Keep them separate — in a different account or a different application — to avoid spending them out of habit.
Set aside a small percentage immediately rather than at the end of the month
The plan “I’ll set aside what’s left” doesn’t work — usually, nothing is left. The reverse order works: set aside a fixed small percentage (even 5–10%) right on payday, and plan the transfer and expenses with what remains.
Where to save so that money doesn’t sit idle
Keeping savings as cash means losing part of their purchasing power due to inflation. A small amount can be invested through a brokerage account: for example, in ETF shares or individual stocks, starting with a minimal amount to understand the mechanics before increasing investments.
